WFP is expanding operations in Ethiopia to reach an additional 4.7 million people in response to the government's urgent appeal for food and nutrition assistance to avoid hunger-related deaths in the coming months.
Much of the destruction caused by Cyclone Nargis – the merciless storm that struck Myanmar two months ago – is still visible. As of today, WFP has reached over 684,000 beneficiaries in the Delta with varying rations of food.
