Cargill - Supporting school meals

“Public-private partnerships to address food security can be a powerful force. Cargill’s 10-year partnership with the World Food Programme is an important part of our commitment to help find long-term solutions to alleviate hunger.”
Greg Page, Chairman and CEO of Cargill
Cargill has supported the World Food Programme for nearly ten years to improve nutrition, health and educational opportunities for children in Central America, Africa and Asia. Over this timeframe, Cargill has contributed to projects focused on school meals, hygiene and sanitation, childhood nutrition, as well as emergency relief operations.

Thanks to Cargill’s contributions, WFP has not only been able to deliver school meals to thousands of children, but has also implemented programmes to improve school infrastructures and give children a clean and safe learning environment.

Cargill is currently helping WFP in India to address malnutrition through women’s empowerment and income-generating activities through a two-year fast-track project in the state of Madhja Pradesh.

Most recently, Cargill responded to the crisis in the Horn of Africa with a donation of 10,000 metric tonnes of rice—enough to feed nearly one million people for a month. This is the largest food donation by a company, ever.
