Following feedback received from participants during the last WFP-NGO annual consultation held in November 2008, we are launching this blog in order to collect ideas and brainstorm together on a number of issues: topics to be discussed, agenda and presentations; different options for the annual consultation format; follow-up action after the consultation; and any other consultation-related matter. We therefore invite you to submit your proposals and to join the discussion in view of the next WFP-NGO consultation which will take place on 14-15 October 2009 at WFP Headquarters in Rome.
Looking forward to an active and fruitful online discussion!

WFP has created an NGO section in the front page of the ICT Humanitarian Emergency Platform website www.wfp.org/ict-emergency. The information is in English, French and Spanish.
The section contains information on key telecommunications services that NGOs working in Haiti can have access to for free:
WFP's NGO partners are providing crucial support to the agency as it delivers food to 2 million Haitians affected by the January 12 earthquake. >>See Photo Gallery
These eight organizations are on the ground helping WFP as it scales up food distributions in Port-au-Prince through 16 fixed sites:

Pros: discussion on strategic issues; the chance to interact with top management; the debate on nutrition; the use of country cases to illustrate and draw out operations issues; the frankness, openness and informality of WFP participants.
Cons: some sessions a bit too heavy on WFP presentations, leaving little time for discussion; much of the information provided was already known and readily available elsewhere; there was a feeling that it had been more of an information-sharing meeting than a consultation.
