The objectives of the Internship Programme are to promote among the participants a better understanding of the United Nations and of the World Food Programme.
Internships provide Divisions at Headquarters, Country Offices or Liaison Offices with the assistance of outstanding students specializing in fields relevant to WFP activities.
WFP places CVs of eligible applicants on a database for one year or until the graduation date, whichever comes first. If during this period an internship opportunity arises, candidates will be contacted directly by the Hiring Unit/Manager.
WFP will provide a maximum stipend of USD700 per month (depending on the location of the assignment). Expenses due to travel and living maintenance will not be covered by WFP.
For security reasons, Internships will not be allowed in high risk areas.
The following criteria are used to determine eligibility for the Internship Programme:
- Have completed at least two years’ undergraduate studies
- Be currently enrolled in a University or graduate school and have attended courses in the last 12 months
- Fluency in English. Fluency in another WFP official working language may be an additional requirement in some duty stations
