Starting on 29 October 2012, WFP and Renault Trucks have together embarked on a three-month journey. What's this all about? Read more to find out!
A road trip has begun.
Travelling by road to four cities in four different countries, a Renault Kerax 6x6 has been configured as a mobile training unit. Complete with every tool and spare part available, this innovative training method will hone the skills of WFP mechanics. With a team of Renault Truck staff, advanced trainings in truck repair and maintennace will be given to WFP mechanics in key country operations:
- Kampala, Uganda
- Juba, South Sudan
- Kigali, Rwanda
- Bujumbura, Burundi
Oftentimes the 'last mile' of WFP's supply chain ends in land transport, making this tranining a great fit to support our global operations.
So, you are probably wondering where the truck is now? So far they've been to Kampala, their first destination (photo above). They will continue on to Juba, South Sudan, which is currently one of WFP's largest operations.
Check out the map below to find out their journey and current location - and don't forget to watch this space for updates as we move across East Africa!
