National Ambassador Against Hunger
A native of Republic of Korea, Mr. Jang is a top actor known for his movie “Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War”. The movie about the Korean War, recorded an astonishing 11 million tickets sold in 2004 and and his TV drama “A Gentleman’s Dignity” in 2012 marked an average 20% viewer rating that broadcasted to 8 countries overseas (Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Indonesia, Israel, Venezuela, Ecuador).
Since being appointed National Ambassador in 2008, Mr. Jang has been a tireless advocate of WFP’s work. In 2012, he visited the Democratic Republic of the Congo's Internally Displaced People (IDP) camps to promote WFP to the Korean public. In 2015, Mr. Jang raised awareness and promoted advocacy to the public as a model of the ‘One Future, #Zero Hunger’ campaign in Korea through his social media page. Mr. Jang, annually donates to WFP.
