A native of Australia, Ms. Watson is the youngest sailor to circumnavigate the globe on her own at 16. She was voted and awarded the prestigious Young Australian of the Year title in 2011 after navigating around the world. Today, she is one of the American Sailing Association’s Top 6 female sailors.
Since her appointment as WFP’s Youth Ambassador in 2011, Ms. Watson has committed to be involved with programmes that improve the lives of children. As an Ambassador, she has visited WFP’s operations in Laos in 2011, visiting schools and communities in the southern Saravane region of Laos. In 2015, she visited Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan where she witnessed their remarkable strength in facing arduous daily challenges resulting from the conflict in Syria. In addition to visiting WFP operations, Ms. Watson avidly promotes WFP through her social media channels and publishing blogs on her website. Ms. Watson was recently featured on Sunshine Coast Daily where she talked about her role as WFP Youth Ambassador and her 2015 Ambassadorial trip to Lebanon and Jordan.
Ms. Watson is currently studying Business Administration at the Australian Institute of Management. Ms. Watson also serves as brand Ambassador for Uniqlo, a Japanese clothing brand known for its affordable basics.
