A native of the U.K., Mr. Yusuf is one of the world’s most talented composers and singers. He has sold more than 31 million albums and performed for a record-breaking 250,000 fans at Taksim Square, Turkey, sold out concerts at Wembley Arena in London, the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and The Velodrome in Cape Town, South Africa.

Since his appointment in 2014, Mr. Yusuf has been a tireless advocate of WFP’s work. He has recorded and dedicated songs to WFP emergency responses like the Horn of Africa drought of 2011, the refugee and internally displaced people (IDP) situated in Syria and neighboring countries, and Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Mr. Yusuf has also supported WFP advocacy and fundraising campaigns, including C.A.R. Can’t Wait and the #ADollarALifeline campaign for Syrian refugees. In 2013, he visited the Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees in Jordan. In anticipiation of Ramadam in 2015, Mr. Yusuf participated in WFP’s Ramadan online campaign by recording and sharing video appeals on his official Facebook page. He also visited WFP’s operations Kenya in 2015 and held a concert during his visit to the Kakuma refugee camp.
