WFP has managed to dispatch food to Ghor province through commercial trucks convoys escorted by the Local Shura. First convoy of 13 trucks loaded with 250 mt food arrived to Shahrak districts of Ghor province safely. The second convoy of 24 commercial trucks carrying 530 mt of food left Hirat on 26 August and on the way to Shahrak district of Ghor province. The food is intended to feed 15,600 school students and 150 families under food for work activities. Similar type of convoys will be dispatched to other insecure areas based on the successful implementation of the convoys escorted through Community Shura Leaders.

In the past week, WFP distributed emergency food assistance to 135 vulnerable families returned from Iran in Sozmaqala district of Sari-Pul province. WFP area office has conducted the assessment to identify the vulnerable returnee families. WFP along with other UN agencies is exploring projects assistance to enable them return to their places of origin for reintegration.
