Congo-Kinshasa: Improvements Necessary to Deal with IDPs, U.S. Official Says

Tens of thousands of people in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have been fleeing a government offensive against Ugandan rebels, adding to the nearly 2.5 million people who have already become internally displaced or refugees in neighboring countries. U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Reuben Brigety recently visited camps for the displaced and refugees. (..) Responsibility for education is UNICEF‚ responsibility for water and sanitation is UNHCR and the responsibility for food is the WFP (World Food Program).
