The World Food Programme (WFP) is boosting food stocks and preparing nutritionally rich food for women and children in order to meet the needs of people who have been displaced in the final days of Sri Lanka's 26-year civil war. WFP is already feeding 250,000 people in temporary transit camps in the northern areas affected by recent fighting, but the number of displaced persons is expected to rise to more than 280,000 in coming days.
