The European Commission Directorate-General for Humanitarian Aid (ECHO) has provided US$ 1.14 million to the United Nations World Food Programme in Nepal to combat acute food insecurity in Mid-Western Nepal. "Recent shocks such as unpredictable weather patterns, crop failures, and increasing food prices have worsened the situation in the Karnali," said Nicolas Oberlin, Deputy Country Director, WFP Nepal. "As a result, WFP is taking urgent action to combat acute food insecurity, and the funding from ECHO will help us to continue our work in the region."
