Ecuador: 5 Communities Protect the Moorlands of the Imbabura Province

March 9 - In the Province of Imbabura, Ecuadorian families are receiving food distributed by WFP in return for the protection of their water sources.  Each household earns one liter of oil, 6 kilos of rice and 3 kilos of lentils, three times a year, for maintaining 80 square meters of land in which ‘firewall’ trails have been created as a precautionary measures to prevent fires.
