Emergent remedial measures needed for food security in Pakistan: WFP

The World Food Programme (WFP) on Sunday highlighted the grim situation in food sector in Pakistan and advised the country to take emergent measures of the emerging crisis with the optimistic approach. The urge came at a dialogue on “school nutrition program in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and FATA” held in Bhurban under the aegis of WFP. (..) “Food insecure population has been increasing all over Pakistan as the latest figures show it recently risen from 40 to 50 percent, conflict and dislocation of nearly three million people aggravated food insecurity in KP and FATA thus casting an overall impact,” Laura [Head Vulnarabality and Analysis Unit WFP Laura DeFranchis] said.
