Food shortages in Haiti: World Food Programme calls for action

With massive funding shortfalls for its global operations, the WFP is being forced to cut programs for those living in poverty. (..) Myrta Kaulard, WFP director in Haiti, is visiting Washington, DC today to build support for helping the millions of Haitians who need aid. According to WFP, "until more jobs, infrastructure and basic social services are there, food assistance is a key factor in stabilizing conditions in Haiti as people continue to recover from the high food price crisis and natural disasters that struck in 2008."
