Ghana - Fact Sheet 2009

WFP provides food assistance to mothers and children at risk of malnutrition, school children, refugees and food-insecure people worst-affected by high food prices. Support is provided to the national home-grown school feeding programme through the provision of locally grown food commodities for school meals. The objective is to improve access to education whilst providing markets for farmers produce. WFP is also strengthening Ghana as a regional logistics hub through the operations of the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot in Accra and the opening of logistics corridors servicing Burkina Faso and Niger.
