Kristina Cassandra “KC” Concepcion is a popular model, actress and singer. A former MTV video jockey, she is one of the strongest social advocates among the young generation in the Philippines. She has her own talk show on Philippines television, Simply KC.
Through a series of charity events, KC has raised significant funding for WFP operations in her native country, not least in the wake of 2009's Typhoon Ketsana. KC has also starred in several print and radio adverts promoting WFP and she sang the WFP End Hunger, Walk the World theme song.
Daughter of two local movie stars and stepdaughter of the popular Senate majority leader, KC has been in the media limelight since birth. She is charming and articulate when discussing issues related to hunger, education and the needs of children in the conflict-affected Mindanao region of the Philippines.
"Part of my job is to help WFP make hunger a big issue, so that it is seen as important as poverty and AIDS," she says.
A recent graduate from a university in Paris, she is fluent in Filippino, English and French. Always eager to travel beyond the Philippines to raise awareness about WFP’s work, she has represented WFP atthe Clinton Global Initiative in New York and at the Formula One Grand Prix in Singapore.
