Egypt food crisis affects close to half its population. (..)World Food Program (WFP) officials argue that while a sufficient quantity of food is reaching Egyptians, families are not eating food with sufficient nutritional content.
“The food available has sufficient calories, but what is lacking is nutritious food in the sense of its protein content” Gian Pietro Bordignon, WFP Country Director in Egypt, told The Media Line. “Since the food crisis last year and the worldwide financial crisis, in Egypt there is less fresh, nutritious food available.”
