Piloting Cash Transfers to Schools in Isiolo, Kenya: Lessons Learned

This document shares the experiences of the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Government of Kenya Cash Transfer to Schools (CTS) pilot carried out in Isiolo County in 2013-2014. The pilot represented the first occasion that a cash-based, locally procured school feeding programme was rolled out in the food-deficit arid lands of Kenya. This was also the first time, across the globe, that WFP decentralized school meals procurement responsibility to schools on a wide scale.
