Road to recovery in Philippines must be built for sustainable human development – UN

Just four weeks after super Typhoon Haiyan ripped through the Philippines, the United Nations and its partners, with the Government’s guidance, are making significant strides in helping the country recover and build back sustainably, a UN development official said today. “The way forward for the UN team in the Philippines is to continue working with partners and the Government to build back stronger, making communities more resilient and sustainable,” said Haoliang Xu, Assistant Administrator and Director, Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, at the UN Development Programme (UNDP).
