A few days ago, in the town of Okara, a mob which included several women burst into a police station, poured petrol over two policemen and set them ablaze. (..) The UN's World Food Programme, in its recently released report on the 'State of Food Insecurity in Pakistan', states that 48 per cent, or nearly half the people in the country, are food-insecure. In a nation of 170 million this translates into a very, very large number.
