WFP is deeply concerned by the expulsion of 13 humanitarian NGOs operating in Darfur, following ICC indictments against President Bashir. This move by the Government directly impacts 1.1 million beneficiaries in Darfur who WFP is currently unable to assist. The departure of these NGOs will leave a huge gap in humanitarian access and may result in further chaos in the form of riots and population movement as poor groups move to other areas in search of humanitarian aid. WFP, together with the humanitarian community in Sudan, are appealing to the Government to overturn this decision in order to enable the provision of life-saving humanitarian assistance to continue to millions of conflict-affected people, particularly women and children.
