Swaziland - Investing in Food Security

Swaziland faces a humanitarian crisis arising from the combined effects of HIV and AIDS, poverty and natural disasters. Although Swaziland is considered a lower middle-income country, 69 percent to the population lives on or below the poverty line of US$1 per day. About 70 percent of the Swazi population live in rural areas and rely on rein-fed agriculture. It is estimated that close to 30 percent of the population is unemployed.
