  • Escalated fighting in Ar-Raqqa severely impacts markets functionality leading to increase in food basket cost.
  • In Ar-Raqqa city, the price of one kg of rice reached SYP 900, representing an increase of 12 percent compared to May level and 72 percent compared to national level average.
  • The average retail price of rice is higher by ten percent in hard -to-reach markets and 77 percent in besieged Deir-ez-Zor markets compared to national level average.
  • Due to high demand on livestock during Ramadan, an increase of 19 percent was recorded in the price of sheep prices compared to last month.
  • Improved market capacity/functionality exerts downward pressure on staple food prices in most of the besieged markets.
