UN begins joint assessment with Sri Lankan government in flooded areas

United Nations aid, food and development agencies have joined hands with the government of Sri Lanka in assessing the basis needs of the people in parts of the capital, Colombo, and other areas, where record rains caused flash floods, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said Friday.(..) The DMC is carrying out a rapid assessment together with the UN World Food Program (WFP), the UN Development Program (UNDP) and OCHA.
