Tropical Storm Noul has formed in the West Pacific and made landfall on 17 November in Khanh Hoa province, Central Viet Nam. It weakened into a Tropical Depression while moving westwards, and is now bringing heavy rains to the coffee-growing province of Lam Dong. As it happens during the peak of the coffee harvest in the Central Highlands, it has the potential to cause damage to the crops, as well as severe flooding and landslides. Heavy rains are also expected in southern Viet Nam, where it could affect Ho Chi Minh and the highly populated Mekong Delta.
Tropical Depression Noul is then forecasted to advance westwards across southern and central Cambodia, and has the potential to reinforce once it crosses the Gulf of Thailand.Close monitoring will then be required as it is expected to impact coastal Thailand and southern Myanmar over the next 36 hours.
