WFP Buys Food From Rwanda Farmers

Published on 07 September 2009

The World Food Programme (WFP) will purchase foodstuffs from Rwandan farmers for five years starting January next year. The new initiative dubbed Purchase for Progress (P4P), targets small and low-income farmers, according to its coordinator, Ms. Emmanuela Mashayo. "We are hoping this market opportunity for smallholder farmers will help them increase their productivity and their income as well," Mashayo told East African Business Week in Kigali.
