- First successful test of vegetable oil airdrops. On 08 May in Ganyiel WFP’s Logistics unit, in conjunction with US-based company SkyLIFE, conducted the first test airdrops of vegetable oil. Further technical reviews are ongoing to make improvements on the dropping procedure.
- WFP/UNICEF Joint Nutrition Scale Up review this week. The Joint Nutrition Scale Up plan was launched last year and the review was held 05-07 May in Juba, with staff arriving from the organizations’ Regional Bureaus and Headquarters. Representatives from Government, donor organizations, Nutrition Cluster and Cooperating Partners also attended. On the last day participants identified concrete actions for improvement to determine the way forward for the second year of the scale-up.
- WFP continues to seek information on its missing staff members. Safe return and additional information are sought for Mark Diang, who was abducted from Malakal airport in October 2014 as well as for three drivers whose last known whereabouts were Akoka on 01 April.
