Highlights

  • WFP continues its emergency responses in Unity state. WFP and its partner, Samaritan’s Purse, successfully completed food distribution in Dablual (Mayendit county) on 21 December for the first time since July 2015. WFP conducted a total of ten of airdrop rotations for this operation, which lasted from 18 to 21 December and reached about 35,800 people with 325 mt of food assistance. On 08 January, WFP and its partners also deployed two mobile teams to Koch and Buaw (in Koch county). Over 81,500 people are expected to be supported in these locations during the course of next week.
  • Assistance commences to conflict displaced in Greater Equatoria region. Emergency distributions of 65 mt of food assistance were conducted in Kotobi and Lui in Mundri West county, Western Equatoria state towards the end of December 2015. More than 10,000 people were assisted, who had been displaced after the insecurity started there in May last year.
  • WFP responds to influx population in Mingkaman. The recent influx of IDPs into Mingkaman continues. A total of approximately 36,000 IDPs have arrived, possibly from Bor South and Twic East. These new arrivals were registered and received a one-off 15 day ration. WFP is working with authorities and partners to determine a longer-term strategy for this population.
