WFP Tanzania Burundian Refugees Situation Report #06, 24 June 2015

•    The number of new Burundian refugees in Tanzania is now over 58,000 according to the latest UNHCR data. This brings the total camp population to over 124,000, which is much beyond its current capacity. Discussions between the Government and UNHCR regarding a new location continue.

•    Since the start of the crisis, WFP has distributed a cumulative total of 1,365 mt of food commodities to over 58,000 new Burundian refugees in the form of dry rations, hot meals, ready to eat snack and supplementary food. 

•    WFP is making preparations to construct one temporary distribution centre in the new extension at the outskirts of Nyarugusu Refugee Camp, where the newly arrived Burundian refugees are being settled until a new camp site for them has been identified.
