WFP trebles scope of school-feeding programme

The World Food Programme (WFP) Tanzania has expanded its school meals programme threefold since last year, and now the number of primary schoolchildren receiving meals has reached 640,000 from 600,000 the previous year. Speaking to 'The Guardian' yesterday in Dar es Salaam, WFP head of programme Hae-Won Park said the expansion was a results of contributions received from donors and the people of Tanzania. “WFP is grateful for the contributions since without them the school-feeding programme would not be sustainable for a number of years,” she said.
