WFP Yemen Situation Report #4, 29 April 2015
  • In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis, WFP has provided emergency food assistance to 763,000 people since 15 April. Beginning in May, WFP will scale up its emergency response to reach 2.5 million conflict-affected people until July.
  • However, without urgent receipt of fuel for humanitarian operations, WFP will not be able to provide any food assistance at scale. Already, WFP has been forced to stop food distributions due to lack of fuel in one location, which will continue to other areas if fuel is not received in the next few days.
  • WFP and its local partners are facing major challenges distributing food assistance given the insecurity and ongoing airstrikes.
  • WFP maintains operational capacity on the ground with 185 national staff across the country, while international staff are operating remotely from Amman.
