Zambia: Congolese Refugees Develop Cold Feet

Survival skills acquired over the period Congolese refugees have lived in Kala and Mwange refugee camps, are now making them reluctant to go back home despite the return of relative peace to their country. (...) Officials from the UN's World Food Programme (WFP) at Kala Camp confirmed that the food stocks were only enough to last up to June this year. But even then, drastic changes have already started taking place. (...) Late last year, the WFP, which had been feeding about 33,500 vulnerable refugees housed in the four camps (Meheba, Mayukwayukwa, Mwange and Kala), said that it would be forced to end the programme due to a lack of funding.
