Follow-up Emergency Food Security Assessment in the Kyrgyz Republic, Autumn 2011

Since July 2009, WFP carries out regular assessments in the Kyrgyz Republic to gauge the level of food security of the poorest people across the country. WFP carries out assessments during so called lean and harvest periods, as food security in Kyrgyzstan has significant seasonal variations (e.g. pre-harvest or post-harvest periods) and data may vary. This most recent assessment conducted by WFP in August 2011 showed that food security remains of concerns despite improvements as 18% of households (or nearly one million people) across the country were found to be food-insecure.
