Namibia 2011

Since gaining independence in 1990, Namibia has enjoyed relative stability. Income disparity is high, as indicated by its Gini index value of 0.74. With one of the highest HIV/AIDS rates in the world, Namibia has been hit hard by the HIV, tuberculosis (TB) and malnutrition triple effect. HIV/AIDS is also the leading cause for a rapid increase in the number of orphans and other vulnerable children and a reduction in average life expectancy.
