Rome - With a generous donation from its first and largest corporate partner - the global mail, express and logistics company TPG N.V. - WFP will transport high-energy biscuits to Sudan this weekend to help feed thousands of children caught up in the conflict-ridden Darfur region.

Port Sudan The first 25 of a total of 120 specialised all-terrain 6X6 trucks have arrived by sea in Port Sudan to help in a WFP operation to deliver food by land and air to Darfur. The UN Secretary-General has asked WFP Executive Director James Morris to lead a high-level humanitarian mission to the Darfur region of Sudan. The inter-agency mission, scheduled to be in Sudan from 27 April until 2 May, will get a first-hand look at the humanitarian situation, assess the scope of the crisis, and identify any gaps in humanitarian assistance.
