High and Dry
Abeer's trip begins in the parched Al-Shadadi district in northeastern Syria where three years of drought have turned once fertile farmland into desert. Whole villages have been abandonded as people move to the cities in search of work, while hunger and malnutrition hang heavy over the lives of those who remain.
