Emergency Response to Flood-affected Families in Southern Bolivia

In south-western Bolivia heavy rainfall during January-February 2013 caused severe flooding of the San Juan del oro River and its tributaries. Intense precipitations over a short period coupled with mountainous terrain without any vegetative cover caused flash floods 3-4 meters high which destroyed everyhting in their path including standing crops and infrastructure.
