Emergency Assessments, Food Security Analysis

An Emergency Food Security Assessment (EFSA) was implemented from 10 to 27 March 2010 in six regions to allow WFP and its partners to have precise information for the geographical targeting of the most affected areas and propose criteria for the targeting of beneficiaries. The results of the survey will also be used to monitor food security during the implementation of the operation and to measure results at outcome and impact level.

This evaluation focused on three groups of people currently living in areas of Goz Beida and Koukou namely: IDPs living in sites; displaced persons who, after having spent time in a site returned to their villages of origin; and the populations of villages. Processing and data analysis was carefully carried out, either globally or by group (association) or by groups within areas, with the major concern to identify the behavior of the phenomena studied.
