World Food Programme Fighting Hunger Worldwide

TBILISI – As the winter weather in the Republic of Georgia begins to bite, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) announced Wednesday that it will distribute vital food supplies to feed 6,700 of the country’s most vulnerable people over the next few months.

Two cargo aircraft chartered by WFP set off this morning for Tbilisi, Georgia, with 34 metric tons of high energy biscuits to assist thousands of people in Georgia displaced by the recent conflict.

FAO has called for a renewed commitment to guarantee the right to food for the world's hundreds of millions of hungry people.
