Purchasing Power
Inflation is relatively high in Ghana. The year-on-year inflation rate of August ranged from 6.2% in the Upper East and Upper West regions to 11.1% in the Central region. Four regions (Central, Greater Accra, Ashanti and Northern) recorded inflation rates above the national average of 9.5%. With the Cedi further depreciating (1.91 against 1 US dollar in September compared to 1.69 in January), households see their purchasing power further decreasing.
