Purchasing Power
In August 2012, the cost of the basic food basket increased by 6.8% compared to the same month last year. The increase is mainly driven by increases in yellow maize and black beans prices. However, annual inflation remains contained at 2.7% from August 2011. In Guatemala City, regular gasoline price decreased slightly in August, after an increase of 2% from June to July.
