Overview
A World Bank report of a national study on household poverty published in June 2012 indicates that on average 55 per cent of the population in Guinea lives below the poverty line. Additionally, a February 2012 report of a national nutrition survey conducted using the SMART methodology indicates high rates of malnutrition in children under five years, at 35% nationally, compared to 40% in 2008. Though declining, chronic malnutrition levels remain worrisome in certain regions.
