Purchasing Power
Even though inflation continues to be generally high, it has slowed down in July and August 2012 compared to the previous year (+7.7% and +6.1%, respectively). Maize price stabilized compared to the past year (+1.5% in July, and +1% in August), resulting in an increase in the purchasing power of pastoralists, whose livestock body conditions are generally good in most parts of the country due to availability of grazing resources. However, erratic and uneven rainfall distribution may end up in over-concentration of livestock and conflicts over available grazing areas.
