World Food Programme Fighting Hunger Worldwide

An FAO/WFP Crop and Food Security Assessment Mission (CFSAM) visited DPRK, at the request of the Government, from 24 September to 8 October 2012 to assess the 2012 main crop harvest, forecast the 2013 production of winter and spring crops, estimate cereal import requirements for the 2012/13 marketing year (November/October), assess the household food-security situation and estimate food assistance needs.

An FAO/WFP Crop and Food Security Assessment Mission (CFSAM) visited DPRK at the request of the Government from 3 to 17 October to assess the 2011 main-crop harvest, forecast the 2012 production of winter and spring crops, estimate cereal import requirements for the 2011/12 marketing year (November/October), to assess the household food security situation and estimate food assistance needs.

An FAO/WFP Crop and Food Security Assessment Mission (CFSAM) visited DPRK at the request of the Government from 21 September to 2 October to assess the 2010 main-crop harvest, to forecast the 2011 production of winter and spring crops.

FAO and WFP conducted a CFSAM (Crop and Food Supply Assessment Mission) in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in October 2008, the first such exercise since 2004, as the Government had decided to sharply curtail humanitarian assistance .

The objectives of the RFSA were to qualitatively assess the food security situation of particular populations groups in terms of food availability, access and utilization; and, to determine food assistance requirements in terms of location, and quantity.

An FAO/WFP Crop and Food Supply Assessment Mission visited DPR Korea from 28 September to 9 October to assess the 2004 main-crop harvest, forecast 2005 production of winter and spring crops (wheat, barley and potatoes) and estimate cereal import requirements for the 2004/05 marketing year (November/October), including food-aid needs.

An FAO/WFP Crop and Food Supply Assessment Mission visited the country from 23 September to 4 October to assess the 2003 crop harvest, forecast 2004 production of winter/spring wheat, barley and potato crops, and estimate cereal import requirements for the 2003/04 marketing year (November/October), including food aid needs.
