VIENTIANE – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) to work together to prepare for and respond to natural disasters in Lao PDR.

VIENTIANE – More than 39,000 people in Khammuane struggling from the long-term impact of tropical storms are now able to bridge the food gap until the next harvest, thanks to a donation of €404,000 (US$502,488) by the European Union's Humanitarian Aid AND Civil Protection department (ECHO) through the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in support of a government-led relief effort.

VIENTIANE – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and WFP Youth Representative Jessica Watson, together with Australian non-profit organisations SchoolAid and Global Development Group (GDG), are joining forces to engage Australian students in the fight against child hunger. All funds will support WFP’s school meals programme in Laos through a Global Development Group project. The joint effort was announced today, 3 July 2012, at a press conference in Brisbane, Australia.
