Since its inception in March 2012, UNHAS Mauritania has played a crucial role towards the implementation of humanitarian activities and the monitoring of humanitarian projects in the country. Given the vast distances between areas of humanitarian intervention and the fact that road travel is highly unsafe, air transport is the most efficient way to access those in need of assistance. With a fleet of one 19-seat B-1900D and one 18-seat LET-410 based in Nouakchott and Nema respectively, UNHAS provides air service for more than 40 humanitarian entities and transports approximately 380 passengers and 1.1 mt of cargo every month.
