The year-on-year inflation released by the Nepal Rastra Bank in September was 11.2%, driven mainly by the inflation of the food index (+10.4%) and services index (+11.9%). The year-on-year salary and wage rate index increased by 10.6% during the review period compared to 30.5% in the same month the previous year. As major festivals (Dashain and Tihar) are approaching, prices of staple food commodities are likely to remain high. In addition, higher demand during this period will also likely increase the prices of meats, fruits, vegetables and edible oils.
