In terms of household food consumption scores, an interesting finding from the EFSA was that though the majority of households reported an acceptable food consumption pattern, a significant minority did not.

The primary objective of this assessment was to update the existing information on the situation of IDPs in evacuation camps and examine the status of returnees and resettlers in terms of food security, livelihoods and their coping practices.

In January 2009, World Food Programme and UNICEF with the support of government and nutrition cluster partners conducted a Joint Emergency Nutrition and Food Security Assessment of the conflict-affected IDP population in Central Mindanao.

The findings of this report indicate that structural issues have caused a chronic food insecurity situation in Mindanao. The results of the assessment show that 26 percent of the interviewed households are assessed as severely food insecure.

The general objectives of the assessment were to evaluate the impact of the typhoons which affected livelihoods, and identify food assistance requirements for the next three to nine months.
