NEW YORK/ ROME, 16 July, 2014 – We welcome Security Council Resolution 2165 on humanitarian access in Syria, which should enable us to reach up to 2.9 million more people with vital aid. This resolution represents a breakthrough in our efforts to get aid to Syrians in need.

AMMAN – The United Nations World Food Programme has started moving more food supplies from Turkey into northeast Syria through the Nusaybin border crossing point to assist displaced families cut off from food supplies in Al-Hassakeh governorate.

AMMAN – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) welcomes a generous contribution of US$5 million from the Saudi Fund for Development, a government agency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, operating under the guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abduallah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The contribution will help provide food for thousands of internally-displaced Syrians affected by conflict in their country.
